About the Instructor:
Elizabeth Barnes
Mezzo-Soprano, Elizebeth Barnes, praised for “singing and acting with assurance, liveliness and wit,” is a third generation opera singer and teacher following in the footsteps of her paternal grandmother, and mother. Ms. Barnes is now based in the Washington DC area after teaching Voice and Piano in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ms. Barnes is an alumna of The Hartt School of Music where she studied with Joanna Levy, and received her Masters of Music from The Eastman School of Music, studying with Katherine Ciesinski. Elizebeth is a passionate advocate for early arts education, and frequently returns to her home town of Santa Fe, New Mexico to give Master Classes, and coach All State repertoire with choir students.
In addition to Ms. Barnes' teaching, she has performed at Sarasota Opera, Aspen Opera Center, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Eastman Opera Theater and Hawaii Performing Arts Festival. Ms. Barnes is excited to share her love of music and performing with all her students to help them thrive in the studio, in school, and in life.
